AURORA BASKETBALL INC'S NEW OFFICE GRAND OPENING!

November 14, 2017

On Saturday, November 11, 2017, Aurora Basketball Inc. hosted an Open House Party to celebrate the opening of our new 600-square-foot basement office space at 136 Fox Crescent in Fort McMurray. Around 40 members of the #AuroraFamily attended the Open House. The attendees included Elementary-aged players in Aurora’s Youth Programs, middle & high school players & staff, volunteer coaches, parents, and community sponsors of Aurora Basketball Inc. This is the third evolution of office space since Aurora’s inception in January of 2015. Beginning in Dan Briscoe’s basement rental suite in Thickwood, Brooke Briscoe’s student housing apartment at Keyano College, and dozens of coffee shop booth “take-overs”, Brooke & Dan moved the business into its first real office - a 100-square-foot den at 136 Fox Crescent in September of 2016. Just over one year later, this latest office evolution will provide Aurora the space necessary to grow its part-time office staff moving into 2018.

The Grand Opening is a major accomplishment for our young organization, and marks the end of our 3rd year as a start-up basketball Club in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. We have fought through constant adversity (fires & floods, literally), in order to persevere over the past 3 years to obtain the current level of success & stability that we enjoy today. Co-Founder, Owner, & General Manager, Dan Briscoe, shared a heartfelt speech of what Aurora Basketball means to him, and to the community we are privileged to serve. Dan recalls his memories of coaching Aurora’s first Saturday day camp at Dr. Clark Public School’s gymnasium with 5 players, to now having over 500 active basketball players in our organization (400 youth and over 100 adults). Dan shares his vision for the next 5 years of company growth, and includes positive comments about his full-time staff who serve alongside him, Rachel Ivey & Grace Lokole.

Thank-you, Fort McMurray, for supporting us as we’ve worked hard to provide a previously lagging service (basketball programming) to this community. We love you, and we look forward to continue to serve Fort McMurray by building leaders through the sport of basketball.

Dan Briscoe, Owner & General Manager
